Your options for near-invisible braces

Invisalign treatment is the most advanced clear aligner system in the world, backed by more than two decades of innovation. Unlike braces, Invisalign clear aligners are removable and virtually invisible - there are no wires and brackets, so you don’t need to change the way you brush and floss and you can continue to eat all your favourite foods.

Life Dental is pleased to offer Invisalign treatments at our Exeter dental practice and if you like the idea of a teeth-alignment treatment with near-invisible, fully-removable aligners, then we recommend booking a consultation with our expert orthodontists to discuss your Invisalign options.

Life Dental & Wellbeing offers a comprehensive service for a course of Invisalign clear aligners. We're currently offering initial consultations for Invisalign at just £140.

In the meantime, we’ve collated some frequently asked questions from our patients to help you in your initial research:

Are Invisalign Braces right for me?

If you’re interested in Invisalign braces, then we would start with a consultation with one of our expert orthodontists. After an initial consultation, we would conduct detailed teeth measuring to create a digital treatment plan to showcase what the straightening process with Invisalign will look like. From there, we would then create your unique set of aligners.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Treatment times depend upon the individual, though you should start seeing results within a few weeks. Typically, full treatment can last between 9 to 18 months. During a consultation with our orthodontists, we should be able to give you a better idea of timescales.
Once your custom aligners have been molded, you should wear each set for the majority of a 24-hour day (i.e.20-22 hours). The aligners will then be changed to a new set every 1-2 weeks, as your teeth become more aligned.

Will anyone notice that I’m wearing Invisalign braces?

Your Invisalign aligners will be virtually invisible and so many won’t even notice you are wearing them. In fact - for adolescents, many aligners have a small blue dot strategically placed on the braces so their parents easily check that their child is wearing them!

Can I take my Invisalign braces off whenever I like?

Invisalign braces are easily removable at any time of the day. To ensure effectiveness though, we would recommend wearing them as much as possible - around 20-22 hours a day. But it does mean you are free to take them off for eating, drinking and proper dental hygiene.

Do I need to avoid any foods when wearing the aligners?

Unlike traditional braces, you can take your Invisalign braces off at any time. This means that you’re free to enjoy all foods and drink without worrying about it affecting your braces or teeth (though we would always recommend brushing and flossing your teeth before reinserting after eating or drinking to protect both your teeth and avoid retainer discolouration).

Can I switch to Invisalign if I’m already wearing other braces?

We have treated a large number of patients who have a combination of traditional-style braces and Invisalign aligners. If this is something you are interested in, then please book a consultation for discussions on your full options.

Will the Invisalign aligners affect how I talk?

It may take a day or two to adjust at first, but the vast majority of our patients have not reported any problems with the way their aligners have affected their speech.

How much does Invisalign treatment cost?

As with all other types of orthodontic treatment, the cost for Invisalign treatment depends on the complexity of the alignment treatment and the extent of the dental realignment requirements. We would therefore recommend booking an initial consultation, where our expert orthodontists can conduct a clinical examination of your teeth and give you an accurate cost appraisal.
